I'm looking for a source to buy non-certified rocker cover gaskets for a Continental O-470. Not trying to pay FAA-certified prices for something this simple. Any leads on suppliers or shops that sell parts like these for experimental or owner-maintained planes would be appreciated. Thanks.

I ran into the same issue tracking down parts for a project engine a while back. Some aircraft salvage yards and experimental aircraft forums have folks who sell non-certified gaskets at reasonable prices. Have you checked with engine rebuild shops? Sometimes, they have extras or know where to point you.

If you're after non-certified rocker cover gaskets for your Continental O-470, check out places like Aircraft Spruce, B&C Specialty or experimental aircraft forums where folks share parts sources. Sometimes local shops can make custom gaskets cheaper too.

You should be able to find non certified rocker cover gaskets for the O 470 through suppliers that cater to experimental builders or owner maintained aircraft, mind you, there are silicone options out there that work great and cost a fraction of certified parts. Some shops will sell the exact same gasket without the FAA paperwork, which is really all you're avoiding here

Makes sense, silicone gaskets that aren't officially certified can save you some money if you're experimenting or taking care of your own O-470 engine.
